Today is my day off. We still had to wake up at 5:30 for yoga, but after breakfast, we were set free.
I went out on my own, only to discover that the next bus was 45mins away. I started reading a book: The Old Patagonian Express. Like it. I’m not in a hurry anyway.
My own trip commences, and really just felt a bit bus sick from trying to read. And hungry…the bus ride is much longer than I thought it would be.
I finally arrive in Halle and the rain has started pouring in earnest. Great. I’m wearing a white dress too, with no umbrella, and these buildings have no friendly verandah to run to in the downpour.
So I ran back towards the station, but it didn’t look like I would make it before my dress was completely drenched, so I ran into a library or museum type of place, and stood there in the foyer dripping wet.
I saw a menu board with words I recognized, like “Steak”. Excellent. I wandered down passages and stairways, following Kantin signs, and found what looks like a school canteen, for the workers of the library. Perfect. I pointed at the one word I recognized, “Putensteak” and ended up with a whole plate of hot food for €4! Peas, potatoes, mushrooms and Putensteak. Which I think is either chicken or pork.
